ZATERO Dance was founded in the Fall of 2017 by Natasha Small and Liliana Zapatero in Austin, TX. They premiered their first piece in September 2018 as an opening act for “The Madres”, produced by Shrewd Productions. They have since performed with Articulate Austin, Annette Christopher, Austin Community College, Austin Dance Hub, SEAM Project and Raw Pear. ZATERO Dance participated in the mentorship program hosted by Austin Emerging Arts Leaders from 2019-2020, and was selected for the 2020 Austin Dance Festival (new date TBD).
ZATERO Dance’s mission is to create original works that provide a shared experience for the audience. We strive to embody a full tonal relationship in movement that coincides with familiar daily processes. Movement is a form of communication that is available to everyone, and we want to develop dances that are accessible and relatable for the audience.
